Common Japanese Nouns 11-20

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” – Paulo Coelho

In the last chapter, you started the “Common Nouns” vocab deck. By now you’ve learned the first ten, as well as some kanji vocab (I hope?) and now it’s time to learn the second ten. Just like before, there’s a couple things you need to do to get started. First, let’s take a look at the ten vocab words you’ll be learning.

  1. こうえん (park)
  2. じしょ (dictionary)
  3. ちかてつ (subway)
  4. おてあらい (restroom – polite)
  5. しお (salt)
  6. つくえ (desk)
  7. さとう (sugar)
  8. はこ (box)
  9. しゃしん (picture)
  10. こども (child)

Take a look at these words really quick, and try to remember two of them before downloading and beginning your list. Are there two that you can quickly memorize just off the top of your head? Once you’ve got them, download the Anki list, unzip it, and then import it into your “TextFugu Vocab” deck in Anki.

Common Nouns 2

Go through your reviews and any new cards it gives you (if you’ve kept up with everything, it will hopefully be quite a few new words). Study until it’s done before you move on to the next page (and make sure you come back to review as often as possible. It’s the little study sessions, over time, that really make you good at Japanese!).

You’ve accomplished… Ten more vocab words! These are common nouns that you’ll be able to use to study your grammar in the coming pages. Oh, and did I mention they’re useful, too?
